Hometown: Detroit, MI

Personal Relationships: Werner chose to pursue baseball because of his relationship with his grandfather, who loved the game and Werner always wanted to make him proud. He credits a lot of his success to his dad, Werner, Sr., a former college football player at Eastern Michigan, for keeping him humble and always pushing him. Werner Sr. now works at the Detroit Lion’s practice facility as head of security. Werner’s the youngest of three athletic kids; his brother Christian was on the fall baseball team at Michigan and his sister, Krista, a volleyball player at Eastern Michigan.

Key Quote: Werner has high expectations for himself, saying “I want to be the best player I can possibly be,” said Werner. “One day I see myself playing for a Major League team.”

Social Media: Tweets are largely composed of support for his former teammates, other players, and his siblings.
