School: Crestview

Hometown: Convoy, OH

Personal Relationships: Kalen’s family is athletically gifted at basketball to say the least. His grandfather is Hall of Fame High School Coach Ray Etzler. His parents both excelled at basketball at Crestview High School and played in college (father Andy at Ashland Universty and mother Krista at Xavier and Ashland). Kalen's sister, Myia, currently plays for Crestview. His uncle Doug, played for Ohio State in the 1990s and is currently coaching at Crestview. Kalen also has an extremely close relationship with his brother, Javin, who plays for Miami (Ohio).

Key Quote: Kalen’s commitment to Ohio State came early.  As a child, when someone asked him where he wanted to be when he was older, his standard answer was “I want to play for the Buckeyes.”

Social Media: Postings are composed largely of retweets and posts supporting teammates and friends and their athletic accomplishments.

Off-the-Court: His mind is constantly on improving his game, but also how to develop himself off the court. Spends countless hours watching "The Mind of Kobe Bryant" to keep him on track in life.
