Player Profile: Shane Dezonie

Personal Relationships: Shane’s dedication to success reflects that of the commitment shown by his family.  He traveled 118.5 miles to Jersey City with his father, Vincent, from home to school. Vincent, who works in New York, made the drive every day at 4:30 am, the same drive he made when Shane’s brother, Shackylle, who plays basketball at Wesleyan College, used to play at Hudson Catholic. Shane’s relationship his brother is extremely close and he looks up to him as an example to follow. “He has a work ethic like no one else”, says Shane. He also has a sister Shackysha, the oldest, and older brother Shawn, all whom play basketball.

Key Quote: Shane is his own toughest critic, saying “I think I’m challenged every day to get better. I had to practice harder. Right now, I still think I’m struggling. I can do better as a leader. Since we have such a young team, I had to step up and be more of a leader. That’s what I do in practice.”

Social Media: Few social media postings (all basketball related) but notably a man of faith as he has "Trust In God" in his bio.

Off-the-Court: In the Honors programs at Hudson Catholic, Shane says his parents (Vincent and Michelle) make sure he stays on top of his grades and that academics are "very important” for both he and them.
