Player Profile: David Davidkov
School: New Trier
Hometown: Winnetka, IL
Personal Relationships: David’s parents, Emil and Elena, immigrated to Chicago from Bulgaria in 1997. His mother was told she couldn’t birth children, but they had 3. His parents didn’t have much free time, with Emil being a truck driver and Elena helping him. His dad wanted his kids to play hockey, being that he himself was on the Bulgarian junior hockey team that won a European title. David on the other hand, asked friends to take him to football practice.
Key Quote: When asked “what’s your dream” by college coaches, David responded “My dream is to play in the NFL one day and provide for my parents.”
Social Media: Tweets are largely composed of support for other players and teammates and thanking colleges for recruiting offers. Also a man of faith as he has “All Glory to God” with a cross in his profile.
Off-the-Field: Described by teammate, Luca Wojewski, as “a true leader who works harder than anyone I know.” Personally contacted coaches whom were not on in his final college list to thank them for recruiting him. Said his college decision will be largely based on education because less than 2% of college players make it to the NFL and he wants to make his parents proud by raising a family, which starts with an education.
