Player Profile: Logan Stankoven
Team: Kamloops Blazers
Hometown: Kamloops, BC, CAN
Personal Relationships: Logan’s mother is happy to have her son home playing at home in Vancouver, but understands the expectations that come as a centerpiece of a struggling franchise. She knows that’s where parenting comes into play and “pick him up when he’s not feeling well.” Logan’s 82-year-old grandmother sometimes makes the visit out from Vancouver Island to see him play, and although it’s rare, Logan appreciates when she makes the trip out. He also has a younger sister, Macie, who makes it out to most games with his parents.
Key Quote: Logan’s father, Wes, was encouraging and confident in Logan when he first signed with Kamloops, saying he will handle the pressure of playing hockey in his hometown well and “Logan handles stress pretty good. I always tell him, ‘Go out there, have fun and don’t put too much pressure on yourself.’”
Social Media: Logan rarely posts on social media, but the majority of his posts are wishing congratulations to other players, thanking teams and organizations for having him, and showing love to Canada.
Off-the-Ice: As part of his training, Logan has explored boxing with boxing trainer Gary Labbe. He uses those sessions to work on his cardio, while also learning to protect himself. Labbe raves about Stankoven’s humility, saying “I find him really easy to hang around with and train. He leaves his ego at the door.”
